My name’s Seann McWhorter, I’m agency principal
of Insure Right Insurance Agency, located in Lehi, Utah. We’re here to talk about insurance
ins and outs, and specifically how to choose a health insurance plan. Well, I think that
there are several different things that you need to consider when choosing a health insurance
plan. And price isn’t necessarily the most important thing, although it is an important
determining factor. Some of the things you need to consider is your current health situation.
If you or your family members have had any health problems in the past, it may be difficult
for you to qualify for an individual health insurance policy. So you want to consider
that before ever leaving your current health insurance program. Some of the things that
you’ll want to consider when you’re purchasing a health insurance company is to find–make
sure the companies that you’re applying with are companies that are financially stable.
That aren’t going to be pulling in and out of the state that you live in, which can put
you in a really tough situation. It’s also important to determine whether you want an HMO type of a policy, or a PPO type of a policy, or a high deductiblehealth savings account
type of policy. There are differences between all them. An HMO policy will–you basically
have to choose a primary care provider, and any time that you want to visit a doctor you’ll
need to go to that primary care provider and discuss the situation with them, and then
they will give you a referral to go to a specialist in whatever you need to specialist that you’ll
need to see. Whereas in a PPO, you are able to go to whatever doctor you want as long
as that person is in the network in order to get his services paid at the preferred
rate–or preferred schedule.
The President:
Here are the details
that every American needs to know about this plan. First, if you are among the
hundreds of millions of Americans who already
have health insurance, nothing in this plan will
require you or your employer to change the coverage or
the doctor you have. Under this plan, it will be
against the law for insurance companies to deny you
coverage because of a preexisting condition. As soon as I sign this bill,
it will be against the law for insurance companies to drop your
coverage when you get sick or water it down when
you need it the most. They will no longer be able to
place some arbitrary cap on the amount of coverage you
can receive in a given year or in a lifetime. We will place a limit on how
much you can be charged for out-of-pocket expenses, because
in the United States of America, no one should go broke
because they get sick. And insurance companies
will be required to cover, with no extra charge, routine
checkups and preventive care, like mammograms and
colonoscopies — (applause) — because there’s no reason we
shouldn’t be catching diseases like breast cancer and colon
cancer before they get worse. If you lose your job
or you change your job, you’ll be able to get coverage. If you strike out on your own
and start a small business, you’ll be able to get coverage. We’ll do this by creating a
new insurance exchange — a marketplace where individuals
and small businesses will be able to shop for health
insurance at competitive prices. Now, for those individuals and
small businesses who still can’t afford the lower-priced
insurance available in the exchange, we’ll
provide tax credits, the size of which will
be based on your need. For those Americans who can’t
get insurance today because they have preexisting
medical conditions, we will immediately offer
low-cost coverage that will protect you against
financial ruin if you become seriously ill. This was a good idea when
Senator John McCain proposed it in the campaign,
it’s a good idea now, and we should all embrace it. (applause) But an additional step we can
take to keep insurance companies honest is by making a
not-for-profit public option available in the
insurance exchange. (applause) Let me be clear. It would only be an option for
those who don’t have insurance. No one would be forced to choose
it and would also keep pressure on private insurers to keep
their policies affordable and treat their customers better I
will not sign a plan that adds one dime to our deficits –
either now or in the future. (applause) We’ve estimated that most of
this plan can be paid for by finding savings within the
existing health care system, a system that is currently
full of waste and abuse. The only thing this plan would
eliminate is the hundreds of billions of dollars
in waste and fraud, as well as unwarranted
subsidies in Medicare that go to insurance companies. And we will also create an
independent commission of doctors and medical experts
charged with identifying more waste in the years ahead. (applause) These steps will ensure that you
– America’s seniors — get the benefits you’ve been promised. And we can use some of the
savings to fill the gap in coverage that forces too many
seniors to pay thousands of dollars a year out of their own
pockets for prescription drugs. Many in this chamber –
particularly on the Republican side of the aisle — have long
insisted that reforming our medical malpractice laws
can help bring down the cost of health care. I know that the Bush
administration considered authorizing demonstration
projects in individual states to test these ideas. I think it’s a good idea, and
I’m directing my Secretary of Health and Human Services
to move forward on this initiative today. The time for bickering is over. (applause) The time for games has passed. (applause) Now is the season for action. Now is when we must bring the
best ideas of both parties together, and show the American
people that we can still do what we were sent here to do. Now is the time to
deliver on health care.

Hello everyone. My name is Matt Fuller. This
is Denise Bennet, my partner. We are the proud facilitators of the Light and Love Cafe. We
are here on behalf of the Expert Village. We have a red plum here and we’re going to
put some red plum in. And, by the way, the texture of the fruit really does matter here.
It’s not just the flavor but the texture. Banana is perfect. Nice sweet flavor, always
in season or I can always get them. The pie needs to be not too dry and not too watery.
So if I used grapes, way to watery, or if I were to use melon, which I don’t think I
ever even have, there’s a kind of an unwritten law about melon being eaten by itself so I
wouldn’t even mix it with the nuts. Another wonderful fruit is plum. A really nice texture,
nice flavor. So, I’m going to go ahead and put the plum in now. We’re going to mix some
things together. And more banana. How about apple? Do you have some apple? Ok, let me
add a little apple too. Apple has a lot higher water content, so, if I make an apple pie
I would go ahead and cut up the apple. I would only blend some of it, but not all of it.
I just want to draw everyone’s attention to the fact that we have some flesh from the
fruit coming out right here and we have some juice from all of these fruits that’s dripping
out here and that’s one of the things that I really love about this particular style
of a machine is that you can separate these two and this will allow you to add moisture
to the pie if you need to separately which is a really nice feature. It actually is.
The secret to making entrées that are raw, but making them really easy, is to use the techniques of stacking, stuffing, and rolling to take a leftover dip or pâté that you already have on hand and to create something really visually appealing. So remember that not tuna pâté we just made, how I said you could turn it into five different meals? Well, you could have it on top of a salad; you could have it with the cut-up veggies like we made for lunch; but you can also stack, stuff, and roll it into an entrée. So let’s talk about stuffing. You might stuff that not tuna pâté inside of a tomato or into a mushroom. Or here, we’ve got it stuffed into a bell pepper half. And in here, it’s stuffed into a romaine lettuce leaf and topped with cucumber slices. You could top this with an additional piece of romaine lettuce, and then you’d have a sandwich. And you really don’t miss the bread. That pâté is so hearty, and you’re eating it with your hands. It feels like you’re eating a sandwich. And you could pick up this red bell pepper and eat it like finger food, too. So there are some examples of stuffed entrées using the not tuna pâté. How about stacking? One of my favorite entrées is tomato stacks, and I’m going to show you how to make that right now. It tastes like a gourmet dish, but it just couldn’t be simpler to make. It’s only a couple of seconds if you already have the not tuna pâté and a pesto on hand. So you start with one slice of tomato, and then you layer some not tuna pâté on top of it. And you can use any kind of pâté here. In my book Raw Food Made Easy, I have recipes for walnut pâté, for sundried tomato sunflower pâté. Any of those pâtés are going to work deliciously. That’s my first layer. Now I’m going to top it with a second slice of tomato, and I’m going to put some pesto on top. Pesto is a delicious Italian dip made from pine nuts, basil, and garlic–a little olive oil, too– ground up in the food processor. And you can find that recipe in your study guide insert. If you don’t have any pesto on hand, just put another layer of pâté right on top of this. But the pesto makes a beautiful color and flavor. This smells great. I can really smell that basil. And then to top it all off, I’m going to put a few alfalfa sprouts on top. You can use any green, leafy sprout that you can find in your supermarket. And a few sliced Kalamata olives. And there you have a gourmet stacked entrée that you can eat with a knife and a fork as a part of any elegant meal.
Miss me uh… Okay we are now prepared to put our mixture into our pan on the parchment paper. Just to let you know, I did trim down the sides. It’s not necessary, it was just kind of annoying me. So I trimmed off the sides just a little bit. I didn’t make it even or perfect or anything like that just to keep it out of my way. Not a big deal. This is pretty runny as you can see. Well it’s very runny. It’s not thick at all. But that’s okay, we’re going to stick it in the refrigerator to harden. This will be a delectable fudge, I promise. Okay, so you just go ahead and pour that in. And it’s actually not a heavy heavy fudge, and so you’ll just want to make sure that, you’ll, you make sure the weight of this is getting into the corners because that parchment paper is pretty stiff and so you want to make sure it’s, you’re pushing it down in the corners. You’ll see what I mean, I’ll show you. I just want to scrape down my bowl real fast. Okay, that’s good. Alright, the parchment papers is still kind of sticking up right here, and so I’m just going to kind of push it down with my spoon. Because again, it’s pretty stiff, it’s almost stronger than the liquid that’s in here. So, because the liquid is actually really light. Again, it’s not a heavy consistency. So now it looks nice and smooth. It got into the corners and everything. Now we’re ready to pop it in the fridge. And when it comes out it’s going to be this amazing dessert.
Hi! Nili Nathan with Expert Village. This next smoothie is using goji berries and strawberries. Goji berries is something that I just discovered. It’s from the Himalayas and it’s a berry, and they say that it’s the most vibrant and nutritious berry in the world. It originated Tibet and it’s considered to be one of the world’s most nutrient rich fruit. For centuries the goji berry has been honored among the Tibetans for it’s strength building and properties associated with longevity. It’s a sacred secret of the east. Harvested with care by monks for nearly 5 thousand years, the sacred fruit has been legendary in Tibet and Chinese medicine. The berry is rich as an anti aging agents, rich in anti oxidants, vitamins and minerals, and facilitates the flow of vitality, so let’s try it. What I’ve done here is I’ve soaked it for about 4 hours so it blends easier. I’m going to drain it. Wow, interesting. I have my strawberries, which are already washed. I’m just going to remove the green part. This is just a nice hand full of strawberries. I’m pouring about a cup and a half and the goji berries right in there. There we go. And about a tablespoon…I can usually measure it just by sight…a tablespoon of the agave nectar, which is a natural sweetener. There we are. You can add some ice cubes if you like your smoothie with a little more frozenness to it. Here is the nectar from Tibet. We have to put it in a special glass because this is the sacred smoothie. I feel like going out and doing yoga now. This is great.
Hi! I’m Nili Nathan. Next I am going to show you how to make a smoothie using your almond milk that we just prepared. So I am going to get some spinach. Put about a hand full of spinach in there, some apples and you can play around with this and put in what you like. Maybe some berries; blueberries are a great super food with a lot of anti-oxidants and what I have here is some flax seed meal so I will just drop a little bit of that because I have my Omega 3 and my fiber. Then, see this funny thing. This is a diakon root. This is used a lot in macrobiotics and also in raw food. It is very good for you and has lots of enzymes. I helps it digestion and diakon helps the body get rid of fats so that is always a good thing, right? So let me just scrape a little bit of this in there. I just like to do things simple, fast and easy because I am busy as I am sure you are too. So I like to just do it the fastest and easiest way. There you go. I got some of this in there. It taste like a radish. So smoothies are a great way to get your extra green that you may not have time to cook up. Just put it in a smoothie and you are getting it in its nice raw form. Okay, yummy! Look at that. Wasn’t that easy? Now I have my nice breakfast, lunch or even dinner smoothie. To your health.
Hello everyone, my name is Matt Fuller this is Denise Bennett my partner. We are the proud facilitators of the “Light and Love Cafe”. We are here on behalf of expert village. We are interested in doing some raw food preparation for you today. Before we get going, in case you are not familiar I do want to talk a little about what raw food is and how it differs from cooked food. Raw food is basically food from nature just as it is grown and you do not have to heat it. You can basically just grab it and eat it. Sometimes you want to mix things together which create beautiful flavors, there are very important live enzymes that are in what we call raw food. And those live enzymes do tend to die at approximately 115 degrees, give or take 5 degrees. There are of course vitamins and minerals which are in the food and those do maintain to a higher temp but we choose to mainly enjoy the raw food because we like those live enzymes as well, they really do nourish our bodies. Today we are going to be making a very special fruit salad called stone heng. First of all it is very tasty, it is very beautiful and lastly and most importantly for me it is just so much fun to prepare.
Hi, I’m Rachel for Expert Village. Now we are going to prepare the pan for the muffins. I’m going to put little cupcake holders in. I’m just going to mention since I make these kind of muffins for my kids it excellent for adults to of course you can add to little chocolate chips. If you want to make your kids eat it as a snack for school or something you can add chocolate chip to it and it makes more attractive for your kids. Now we are going to fill up the tray, we are going to take a spoonful of the batter. Put it inside the cupcake holders. You can see I’m filling them up and on the top we are going to just put to decorate. You can see that I’m just pushing them a little bit inside cause the cupcake holders help them shape. Plus if it does not touch the bottom of the pan it is not going to cook as quick as the rest that do touch at the bottom. We are going to take a walnut and just decorate it on top. You can take a chocolate chip and decorate it or a carrot shape or a pecan and decorate it. Or you can just leave it like that without decorating it which is fine too. Then we are going to put in the oven. The oven should be heated to 350 and for about these size of muffins should take about 15-20 depending on your oven of course until it is ready.
